RIVER RIDGE RETIREMENT (ALL SENIORS CARE) hosted the Red River Region Porsche Club of America at the third annual Porsches in the Parking Lot Show and Shine on Wednesday, July 24 in their parking lot between their two facilities. The event was postponed from the previous week as the weather forecast had not been favourable to driving or displaying the beloved vehicles. The weather for the evening was clear and sunny with a light breeze. Not a mosquito in sight.
Twenty-two Porsches with their owners attended. River Ridge provided a wraps, snacks and beverages for the member attending.
A music man provided tunes throughout the evening. A spontaneous line dance broke out in the parking lot.
Ryan from Porsche Centre Winnipeg attended with a 2018 Boxster GTS and provided bottled water to the group.
Nott Auto provided a 2014 Boxster in which Lori the Executive Director of River Ridge II took residents for a ride.
A large number of residents enjoyed touring the parking lot, interacting with members and even getting the opportunity to sit in vehicles and have their picture taken. Residents were encouraged to vote for their favourite vehicle. Peoples Choice for the third year in a row went to John Sobczak’s, Ocean Jade Metallic 1999 Boxster. He is withdrawing from the competition next year as he has an unfair advantage of knowing most of the residents being the Shuttle Driver at River Ridge I.
As in the last 2 years Residents purchased raffle tickets for a ride to the Half Moon Restaurant in John’s Boxster for an ice cream. The winner was Feiga Stern from River Ridge I. All proceeds ($275) from the draw this year is being donated to Ronald McDonald House.
This is a great event that members, resident and the community loves to attend.
Thanks to the staff at River ridge for hosting us. We are looking forward to next years event.
