My name is Andreas Kottschoth. I am married to my lovely wife Sabine. We both immigrated to Canada from the motherland of Porsche, Germany. Last year, my wife agreed that we buy a 996 cabriolet for my 50th birthday and we joined the PCA. For her 50th birthday we traveled for 5 weeks to Australia last November. During our trip we had the opportunity to meet with a group of people in Brisbane, from the Porsche Club of Queensland.
On a Saturday morning two Porsche rolled up to our hotel to pick us up. At a cafe, in outskirts of the city, we met with the rest of the group.
After a warm welcome and a cup of coffee, a 14 car convoy left for the Morgan Park Racetrack. We drove 2 hours through the wonderful back country of Brisbane. Kent’s 911SC did not have air-condition, so we drove windows down all the way. Sabine enjoyed Taavi’s open Boxster S. However halfway through the ride they slowed to 30km and closed the roof on the fly and turned up the A/C.
And all the cars ! Several GT3, various 911 model years and some other makes and models, including Jack Brabham’ s F2 racecar, C6R Corvette, BMW’s and a Porsche 718 RSK Spyder. After admiring all those marvels of engineering, the organizer asked us if we want to go for a couple laps on the track. We lined up at the gate and enjoyed 5 laps behind the pace car. What a great way to end a hot day (37Cº (98.6F)) on the track.
Kent and Taavi drove us back to the hotel and a beautiful day ended with some new found friends and great memories. A special thank you goes to Greg, the Queensland clubs social director who made it all possible.
