The Red River Region PCA is planning a Porsche "mini-escape". This event is being organized by RRR Member Rick Dobel, and it is sure to be a BLAST! Below is the information on the trip
- I hope you can all make it! -Briget Sawatsky, President
Time to get the carbon out of the Porsche and let 'er stretch 'er legs. We're going on a trip! June 1st to 3rd!
We will start on Friday 7:30 am from the A&W at Deacon's Corner and proceed through Steinbach to Warroad Minnesota. From Warroad we will travel along the Rainy River east towards International Falls. From there we will travel south through Koochiching forest to Cooke Minn. From Cook we will travel east along Minnesota 1 through Tower and Ely and Superior National Forest to the shores of Lake Superior where we will stay at the terrific Lutsen Resort. There we have reserved cottages on the shore of Lake Superior and arranged a truely fantastic dinner in the 100 year old main lodge at the waters edge dining room. The cabins are modern with 3 bedrooms all featuring queen and king beds and private washrooms for each bedroom. The view of Lake Superior is spectacular.
Saturday we will drive north to the quaint little town of Grand Marias to stroll some of the shops and tourist traps. Further north we will once again enter Canada just south of Thunder Bay and then check out Kakabeka Falls and take the road less travelled through Atikokan to Fort Francis on picturesque Rainy Lake. We will stay at Le Rendevous and once again have rooms overlooking Rainy Lake. Sunday morning we begin the journey on highway 71 through Nestor Falls and Souix Narrows to Kenora and then the final leg home on the TransCanada .
These roads offer some of the most picturesque scenery and twists and curves in our "neck of the woods" a great way to exercise the P car.
Aside from gas expense, we have arranged rates at Lutsen Resort of approx $125.00 for the night for accommodation and dinner will be at individual discretion. The room at Le Rendevous will be $94.00 for non lake view and $104.00 for Lake View. As well make sure you have a valid passport.
Please advise Rick Dobel if you intend to attend and we can get a final head count and provide the info to book rooms. Rick's email is
